Ants in Rogers Minnesota
Ants Behavior
The two most common ants in Rogers Minnesota are pavement ants and carpenter ants. Pavement ants are small measuring only 0.3 cm in length. Carpenter ants are significantly larger at 0.35-0.75 inches. Pavement ants are also known as grease and sugar ants. These ants are commonly found nesting outdoors under sidewalks, driveways, and pavers. Carpenter ant nests can be found anywhere where there is rotted wood. Such as a tree, tree stump, or wood pile. When either ant is found inside they are both attracted to sugary foods and protein. Carpenter ants don’t eat wood to survive! They only chew it to make tunnels to store food, eggs, and larvae. This is why you can find piles of sawdust (also known as frass) in homes with carpenter ants.
Ant Treatment
When we service ants in Rogers Minnesota we provide homes with an interior or exterior treatment. Interior treatments are done with homes that have a large infestation or an infestation in the winter. When it’s winter it’s often too cold to spray on the exterior of the home. When we come inside we use a foam spray that fills into the cracks and crevices where the ants are the most active. When we spray on the exterior we focus on spraying along the foundation of the home, and around patios, decks, and trees that touch the home. Each product is designed to keep the worker ants alive long enough to carry the product back to the rest of the colony underground. It can take up to 30 days for a nest to be exterminated after our service.

Mice in Rogers Minnesota
Mouse Behavior/Habitat
Unfortunately, Rogers Minnesota has mice. Outside there is no way to exterminate the entire population. Mice breed all year. One female can have anywhere between 1-10 litters a year. On top of this, a mouse only needs to be 2 months old to start breeding. Their favorite habitats outside include wooded areas, long grasses, and thick shrubs. Mice live in groups and mark their territory by urinating microscopic droplets as they run along the ground. These are called scent trails and show the mice how to find the entry points to get inside a home. Over time as the same entry points are used the microscopic scent trail becomes visible and turns into a rub mark.
Mouse Service
BOGO’s signature service is our mouse service. There isn’t a company as successful as us in keeping mice out of the home. We do not use poison or contracts to solve a mouse infestation. Our service starts with an inspection of the property where we locate any entry points on the exterior of the home and inside the garage. The inspection is also necessary for finding any limitations that may prevent us from sealing 100% of the home. After our inspection, our customers can decide if they want us to come back for our exclusion service. During this service, we use construction and mouse-proof materials to permanently seal all the entry points around the home.

Wasps in Rogers Minnesota
Yellow Jackets
Yellow jackets are the most aggressive wasps found in Rogers Minnesota. It can be difficult to locate their nests as most are hidden below ground or inside other structures. They can build their nests inside old rodent tunnels, retaining walls, and trees, and even build aerial nests. Their aggressive nature increases as outdoor temperatures drop. This is because their source of food decreases. Also, their nests are at their full capacity which makes them more protective from intruders.
Bald-Face Hornets
A bit larger than the yellow jacket is the bald-faced hornet. They get their name from their white faces. Despite their name, they are more closely related to wasps than hornets. They build large aerial nests in trees, under soffits, and gutters of homes. Their nests are tear-dropped shape meaning the nest is larger around the top and narrows at the bottom where the entrance is located. By the end of the summer, their nests can have between 300-700 wasps.
Wasp Service
We offer two different wasp services in Rogers Minnesota. One is for exterminating a current nest. The other is designed to prevent nests from getting built on the exterior of a home. Our exterminating service is very effective in terminating wasp nests where the number of wasps inside is not visible. The product doesn’t kill the wasps on contact. Instead, they carry the product inside the nest to spread throughout the entire colony before dying. The prevention service uses a product that kills any wasps that land on the home before they can start building a nest.

Spiders in Rogers Minnesota
Spider Behavior
There are many reasons to not fear spiders. For one they are beneficial to the ecosystem in Rogers Minnesota. Spiders feed on insects that could potentially carry diseases. These diseases could impact humans and plants around the area. Without spiders, these insects would become overpopulated. There are two different ways in which spiders hunt for insects. Some spiders build webs to trap insects that fly or crawl by. Others hunt for insects by leaving their burrows and paralyzing them with venom to bring back with them. Spiders eat insects like mosquitos, ticks, flies, and ants.
Spider Service
Even though spiders are beneficial to the environment we agree that they can still be beneficial when not inside or outside a home. Our spider service in Rogers Minnesota is designed to keep spiders from building nests on the exterior of the home and keep them from getting inside. Our service starts by first knocking down any webs on the home. This cleans up the outside and also forces the spiders to move around. As they move around they are more likely to cross over any sprayed areas. When we spray we focus heavily on the foundation, corners, soffits, and around windows, and doors.

Boxelder Bugs and Stink Bugs in Rogers Minnesota
Boxelder Bugs
It’s common to see boxelder bugs in Rogers in the late summer and early fall. At this time of year, the bugs are searching for places to overwinter. During the summer time, they spend most of their time inside boxelder trees and maple trees that produce helicopter seeds. These seeds make up their main source of food and water. They also lay eggs on the leaves and bark of these trees. While inside a home in the winter, it is common to find some bugs roaming around windows and walls that are warmed up by the sun. While inside the bugs do not mate or lay eggs in the home or structure.
Stink Bugs
The stink bug population in Rogers Minnesota has continued to explode. They are relatively new to Rogers. They were only first found between 2010-2012. They spend their summers inside fruit and vegetable fields. Their favorite foods include; berries, grapes, corn, apples, and tomatoes. In the fall people can find them landing on the outside of their homes searching for a place to overwinter. Stink bugs find their way inside homes through chimneys, soffits, vents, and windows.
Boxelder and Stink Bug Service
The stink bug and boxelder bug service in Rogers Minnesota are done in the fall. It’s important to apply the product on the home before the swarms of bugs start appearing on the siding. The product we use stays effective for 2 months. This means for 2 months any bug that lands on the sprayed surfaces dies before it can get inside. When we spray we try to cover most of the house. We spray around windows, doors, foundations, and the roof line.

Ash Tree Service in Rogers Minnesota
Emerald Ash Borer Behavior
The emerald ash borer has been spreading across Rogers Minnesota. The insect is an invasive species from Northeastern Asia. They infect ash trees all across Minnesota. The female boxelder bugs lay eggs on the bark of the tree. As the eggs hatch the larvae chew through the bark to the cambium layer of the tree. This is the youngest part of the tree. The layer spreads water and nutrients from the soil to all the branches and trees. When the larvae eat it they slowly suffocate the tree stopping the nutrients from reaching the entire tree.
Ash Tree Treatment
There are multiple different ways of treating an infected ash tree. The treatment we use involves doing pneumatic micro-injections. The benefit of using this treatment is that the product used to save the tree is injected individually. This allows each injection to be correctly measured and spread evenly throughout the entire tree.
