Ants in North Oaks Minnesota

Carpenter ants in Woodbury Minnesota

Carpenter Ants

Carpenter ants are thought to be as destructive as termites. Termites are insects that depend on the nutrients and cellulose inside the wood to survive. They eat and digest the wood. Carpenter ants only chew wood they do not eat it. They also only chew rotted or water-damaged wood. The piles of frass or sawdust found inside homes with carpenter ants prove they aren’t eating the wood. They chew small tunnels into the wood to store their eggs, larvae, and pupa. The water causing the wood to rot will cause more structural damage than actual ants. They will travel up to 100 yards to find wood to build a nest.

Signs of pavement ants in Victoria Minnesota

Pavement Ants

Pavement ants get their name from the locations of their nests. They build their nests under driveways, garages, and brick or cement patios and porches. Their nests are usually marked with piles of sand and dirt next to the entry points to their tunnels. When they are found inside, especially in the winter their nests can be found in places with heavy moisture. Some of the most common areas are; under heated floors, insulated foundations, basement cement slabs, and under various home appliances.

Ant Service

The ant service we provide in North Oaks comes with a 1-year warranty. It consists of spraying around the foundation of the home. All the ants that are found inside came inside from the outside. After our service, we place a barrier around the home that the ants cross over. When ants cross over the foundation they don’t die right away. Instead, they stay alive long enough to carry the product from the foundation to their nest outside or inside the home. Only 10% of the ants in a colony leave the nest. The rest stay underground including the queen. She will continue reproducing if any over-the-counter products are used. These products kill the ants before they get back to the nest. When our product gets inside the nest it spreads around the rest of the colony. It takes 30 days to kill an entire ant colony.

Mice in North Oaks Minnesota

Mouse habitat in Orono Minnesota

Mouse Behavior

When mice live outside they nest in trees or long grass to keep them stay hidden and protected. As the temperatures drop it is common to find them inside homes. While inside they nest inside insulation or the foundation. They use the insulation to protect them from cold outdoor temperatures and predators. While they are living inside they can continue breeding and raising new litters. One mouse can have between 1-10 litters in one year. They also live in groups of multiple females, their litters, and 1 or 2 males. This can cause a group of mice living inside to multiply quickly if not taken care of immediately.

Wasp removal service preventative

Wasp Service

The two wasp services we offer are preventive and nest extermination. Our preventative service keeps wasps from building nests on the exterior of the home. We spray along the foundation, soffits, gutters, doors, and windows. When the product sticks to the surface any wasp that lands on the sprayed surface dies after 30-45 minutes. Our next service for exterminating wasp nests uses a product that kills any wasp after 6-12 hours. This lets the wasps that leave the nest stay alive long enough to carry it inside the nest. It takes at least 2 weeks to kill an entire wasp nest.

Boxelder Bugs and Stink Bugs in North Oaks Minnesota

Boxelder bug and stink bugs in Minnesota

Behavior

Stink bugs and boxelder bugs are insects that are commonly seen swarming on homes and buildings in the fall and spring in North Oaks. They are drawn to homes in the fall to locate places to overwinter. Once they are inside they can wake up during sunny days. The sun heats the walls, roof, and windows enough to defrost their bodies. While they are roaming around they don’t lay eggs or mate inside. They start mating in the spring. Boxelder bugs lay their eggs on female boxelder trees or maple trees. These trees produce helicopter seeds that they feed on. Stink bugs lay eggs on different crops and plants. Some of the most common are; grapes, tomatoes, sweet corn, and apples.

Ash tree treatment Anoka Minnesota

Ash Tree Service

There are a variety of ways to treat ash trees. But not every treatment is equally as effective. Some treatments make it hard to measure the dosage of each injection point or root received. Our treatment does not have this flaw. With our service, we inject the product individually into each injection point. This can take more time to service the trees but this offsets the effectiveness of the service. Each time we inject the product we are also able to watch to make sure the tree is taking up the product. Our services need to be completed every 2 years to keep the trees protected from the emerald ash borer.
