Ants in Medina Minnesota
Carpenter Ants
Carpenter ants can vary between black and dark brown. They are one of the larger ants found in Minnesota. A worker carpenter ant can grow to be between 0.35-0.5 inches. They also have elbowed antennas. Carpenter ants get their name from their attraction to rotted or water-damaged wood. They do not eat the wood they use the softer wood to chew small tunnels through it. The tunnels they chew are used to store their eggs, larvae and food. The wet wood releases pheromones that attract the ants to the wood. They will travel up to 100 yards away to make a new nest to expand their colony.
Pavement Ants
Pavement ants are smaller than carpenter ants. They only grow to be 0.3 cm in length. They have clubbed antennas and their bodies vary between brown to brownish-black. Their nests are located under sidewalks, driveways, patios, and porches. They also can live inside in the winter. They have a very broad diet. To provide for their larvae they find protein-based foods. Some of the most common come from dead insects, seeds, meat, and fish. The rest of the adult worker ants feed on foods with sugar and carbohydrates. These foods provide them with the energy they need to continue working for their colony. They get their sugar from eating; fruits, plant nectar, and sugary human foods, and beverages.
Ant Service
Our Ant service comes with a full 1-year warranty. Each service uses a product that attaches itself to the ants. When on the ants it takes around 6-12 hours for them to die. This gives them enough time for the worker ants that leave the nest to bring the product back inside their nest. Once inside the nest, the product spreads. It moves from ant to ant as they crawl over each other. It takes 30 days for the product to get to every ant in the colony including the queen ant. Without killing the queen the colony will continue reproducing and infesting the home they live inside. Over-the-counter ant-killer products kill the ants too quickly and will only kill the ants roaming around the inside and not the queen who is deep underground 100 yards away from the home.

Mice in Medina Minnesota
Mouse Behavior
Mice base their natural behavior on changing temperatures. During the spring and summer mice spend more time living outside. They build nests inside trees, underground burrows, and inside long grasses. Mice are naturally very good climbers. Most species of mice feel more comfortable and safer off of the ground. This behavior translates when they start living inside buildings and homes. As temperatures drop mice spend more time inside temperature-controlled areas. When inside a home they rarely spend time on the floor. They usually live on top of the foundation and inside the void above the basement ceiling. Mice do not hibernate and if they are nesting inside during the winter they are still able to breed and raise young. One mouse is capable of having 2-10 litters a year.
Mouse Service
Our mouse service is the most effective in the pest control industry. We stand behind our service by also offering one of the best warranties in the industry. The type of warranty depends on the limitations around the home. If the home has 0 limitations we give a full 2-year warranty. Some examples of limitations include low 3-season porches, cedar shakes, foam foundation panels, and townhomes. This warranty starts 30 days after a seal-up service. After 30 days if mice are still getting trapped inside we will come back to inspect and seal up any entry points that were missed for free! This resets for another 30 days but we will come back unlimited times until the house is 100% sealed from the outside. If any limitations are present we offer a 2 year 2 visit warranty.

Wasps in Medina Minnesota
Wasp Behavior
The most common social wasps in Medina Minnesota include the baldfaced hornets, paper wasps, and yellow jackets. Social wasps all build their nests from scratch each spring. Queen wasps overwinter deep underground below the frost line. In the spring they come out and start searching for places to start a new nest. The first worker wasps leave the nest in search of protein-based foods to feed to the new young larvae and forage for nesting material. They find nest material from dried unstained wood. It’s common to see wasps foraging around wooden decks, cedar shakes, and wood piles. They chew thin layers off the wood and mix it with their saliva to make the papery material their nests are made out of. The foods they forage for include; insects, meat, and fish which are used to feed their larvae. The workers feed on foods with sugar to help them get the energy they need to continue working. By the end of the summer, the queen stops reproducing workers and makes new queen and male wasps. They mate and the queens overwinter to start the process all over again next spring.
Our Wasp Service
We offer 2 different services for wasps. One service is designed to be preventative. This service is used to keep any wasps from building nests on the exterior of the home. We spray along the soffits, gutters, and other overhanging areas that wasps use to build nests. After spraying the product sticks on the surface and stays effective for 2 months. Any wasp that lands on the sprayed areas will die after 30 to 45 minutes. The second service we offer is to exterminate a current wasp nest. The product we use for this service depends on the size of the nest. For large yellow jackets or baldfaced hornet nests, we use a product that doesn’t kill the wasps on contact. Instead, the product keeps them alive long enough to spread it to the rest of the colony living inside the nest. It takes at least 2 weeks for a wasp nest to be exterminated. Smaller nests can be treated with other products that kill them on contact.

Spiders in Medina Minnesota
Spider Behavior
Millions of Minnesota residents are scared of spiders. Luckily there aren’t any venomous spiders to be scared of this far up north. The sighting of the venomous black widow spider is extremely rare. The rest of the spiders that live here aren’t dangerous. They are the opposite. Spiders play an important role in Minnesota’s natural habitats. Without spiders insects that spread diseases and destroy plants and crops will become overpopulated. Some of the more common insects they feed on are; mosquitos, ticks, flies, and moths.
Spider Habitat
Spiders thrive in areas where insects also thrive. Habitats, where insects thrive, include wooded habitats and ecosystems near bodies of water. Many insects like mosquitos, ticks, and flies are all born inside water or heavy moisture areas. When spiders are seen inside homes they are commonly inside homes dealing with other insect infestations. Clearing out any leaf litter or trimming back plants and trees away from the house will keep moisture insects from entering your home. In turn, this causes fewer spiders to follow those insects inside.
Our Spider Service
Our spider service focuses on the exterior of the home. All the spiders that get inside the home find their way in from the outside. Our treatment focuses on spraying around the soffits, foundation, corners, doors, and windows. When the product sticks to the surface of the home it stays effective for 2 months. Before we treat the home we first walk around the property to knock down any spider webs. This causes the spiders to start to move around. As they start moving they are more likely to cross over our product after we spray.

Boxelder Bugs and Stink Bugs in Medina Minnesota
Boxelder Bugs
Boxelder bugs are often found roaming inside homes in the winter. They live inside homes to overwinter. When the sun heats the windows and walls their bodies warm up just enough to start moving around. When they are inside in the winter they are not mating or laying eggs inside the home. They start mating in the late spring and summer when they leave the nest. They lay their eggs on the branches, bark, and leaves of female boxelder bugs. When the eggs hatch the young nymphs feed on the helicopter seeds the tree produces. Adult boxelder bugs also feed on helicopter seeds, grass, and fruits.
Stink Bugs
Stink bugs are an invasive species that was first spotted in Minnesota in 2010. Since their first appearance, they have become one of the most common fall pests in the state. They can be found swarming toward buildings and homes searching for places to overwinter. They often make their way inside through cracks and vents high off the ground. They get in through chimneys, soffit vents, and heat vents. Once inside the stink bugs don’t mate or lay eggs in the winter. They start mating and laying eggs in the spring and summer. They lay their eggs on various different plants. Some of the most common include; grapes, sweet corn, tomatoes, and apples.
Boxelder and Stink Bug Service
Our boxelder bug and stink bug service is in the fall. When we treat the home we spray the foundation up the soffits or as high as our backpack sprayers will reach (25-30ft). These bugs are both capable of flying and entering the home through small cracks high off of the ground. When the product sticks to the surface it stays effective for 2 months. It’s better to get the service done right before the swarms of them appear on the exterior of the home.

Ash Tree Service in Medina Minnesota
Benefits of Treating Your Ash Trees
The Emerald ash borer has infected thousands of ash trees all around the Twin Cities. Their larvae feed on the cambium layer which makes it difficult for the tree to spread nutrients and water to all the leaves and branches. When a tree gets infected there are two options. Either cut the tree down or save the tree by treating it. Cutting down a mature ash tree can be very expensive. Tree companies are raising their prices as the number of infected trees increases. Where the tree is located on the property and the size of the tree can also raise the price of cutting it down by the thousands. On top of all of this, it costs a significant amount of money to dispose of an infected ash tree. It’s important to dispose of it properly so that the disease doesn’t spread to any more ash trees. More important than saving money, saving a large ash tree has significant environmental benefits. One mature ash tree can absorb 1000 pounds of carbon dioxide. Trees also absorb other harmful chemicals such as; nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxides, and carbon monoxide from the atmosphere.
Ash Tree Service
The ash tree service we provide for our customers is the most effective ash tree treatment in the industry. During our treatments, we make sure each tree receives the correct dosage that gives them the best chance of survival. Each treatment we conduct involves measuring the dosage for each injection. Before we start we drill multiple injection points around the base of the tree. After we drill we then go back and individually inject the product into each injection point. This allows us to physically see that the product gets taken up by the tree. Most other ash tree treatments do the injections simultaneously. This makes it impossible to know how much product was taken up by one root compared to another. This causes the product to spread unevenly throughout the inside of the tree.
