Preventative Service
Our preventative wasp service is designed to prevent wasps from building nests on the outside of the home. We start this service around June and July. During the service, we apply a product that kills any wasps that land on the home. The product sticks to any dry surface and stays effective for 2 months. The areas of the home that we focus on include soffits, eaves, garage doors, decks, outdoor lights, vents, and around windows. Some limitations of the service include wood decks and cedar shakes. Wasps will forage for nest-building material by chewing thin layers of dried-out wood. They mix the chewed wood with their saliva, creating the papery material most wasp nests are made of. Homes with these limitations may not see nests on the home but are susceptible to seeing an increase in foraging wasp activity.
Exterminator Service
The exterminator service is a safe, science-based, and effective way to kill any wasp nest built near or on the home. Some social wasps like yellow jackets can have nests with 1000s of wasps. These types of nests can become a safety hazard for pets and people. The product we use to get rid of these nests is only available to licensed pest control technicians. It’s designed to allow the wasps that leave the nests to bring the product back to the rest of the colony. After carrying the product, it takes 6-12 hours for the wasp to die. Over-the-counter wasp killers will kill wasps on contact. This means that the only wasps that will be affected are the wasps that leave the nest. The wasps that live inside a nest won’t be affected including the queen. The queen will continue reproducing more workers after an over-the-counter spray is applied.
