The two most common ants found in Independence Minnesota are carpenter ants and pavement ants. Carpenter ants are larger than pavement ants measuring between 0.35-0.5 inches. Any of the bugs that are found living inside in the winter aren’t laying eggs or mating. Boxelder bugs mate and lay eggs on female boxelder trees. When the eggs hatch the young nymphs feed on the fluids inside the helicopter seeds that the trees produce. Adult boxelder bugs also feed on fruits and grasses. Stink bugs mate, lay eggs, and feed on different plants. Some of the most common include; grapes, berries, tomatoes, apples, and sweet corn.
